What’s the difference between the Patriot E vs Patriot L?
When selecting which RFID reader is best for you, it’s important to understand what best fits your needs first. Are you looking for long range? What about the kind of frequency you want to use or what kind of readers are the most convenient? After figuring all the details out, you will inevitably come across two readers that are nearly identical in almost every way, such as the EMX Patriot E and the EMX Patriot L.
Both units (outside of looks) are virtually identical with both units using 902 – 928 MHz frequencies, have 18-25 ft ranges, come in white, can store up to 500 tag numbers, etc. So how would you know that they are different other than the Patriot E being circular?
What is the difference between the EMX Patriot E and the EMX Patriot L?
The key difference between the Patriot E and the Patriot L is that the Patriot E utilizes a circular polarized antenna, which allows it to read tags in any orientation, as the frequency waves are spiral. The Patriot L meanwhile utilizes a Linear Antenna, which reads vertically, as the frequency waves move only up and down, meaning the tag needs to be mounted vertically. Additionally, the EMX Patriot L is slightly larger than its circular counterpart.
What about other Patriot RFID models?
If you’re looking for something a little more small scale while staying in line with the Patriot series, you should look toward the EMX Patriot SR! A much more compact package, this unit is best suited for short range entry points as it has a read range of about 7 ft. Additionally, it comes with that great circular polarized antenna that the Patriot E has for maximum convenience. It’s a fantastic low-profile, budget friendly option.
