SOS Siren Yelp Noise Tester/Troubleshooting
SOS Siren Sensors are a cheap and effective way to allow emergency vehicles passage through the gate without the need to ram the gate. The sensor detects the sound and automatically sends a signal to open the gate within 3 seconds. This is an effective tool for maintaining perimeter safety and security when an emergency vehicle needs to pass through the access gate.
Below is a siren tone that can be used to test your SOS unit. The "Yelp" is a specific tone the emergency sirens can make. There are many tones that emergency vehicles can make, but the sensor will only respond to the "Yelp" signal.
To begin, turn the sensitivity dial to 8.5 and play the Yelp Siren from your phone close to the microphone. The power/sound light on the board should turn solid, and the gate should open within 3 seconds. Now, turn the sensitivity dial back down.
If the gate does not open, please refer to the troubleshooting guide. The gate owner should request an annual live test from an emergency responder. This is for testing purposes as well as training new emergency responders on how to open a perimeter gate using their Yelp Siren.
